Debating which electives to choose? Or maybe even what Bacholor's programme you want to follow? Then you are at the right address. Here I will tell you something about my favorite courses from my (almost) 3 years at UvA.
Data Science
This course from the Information science programme gives you a deep dive into what data science entails, and how to use it. This course is perfect for people who are looking to make a career in data science. Be aware that this course goes through some complex concepts quite fast, however. I already had some prior experience, so for me this was no problem, but make sure you know what you're in for.

Once again a data science oriented course. This course is a follow-up from the Statistics in R course from the Bachelor Cognition, Language and Communication. There is not much recommended prior knowledge though, the course starts by going over the basics once again. At the end you will be able to apply linear and logistic regression on (at least) textual data.

Want to know more about formal language theory? Then Computational Methods might be a perfect choice. In this course you will go over propositional logic, languages, grammars, trees, as well as automata, probability and random variables. Although I felt like some concepts were really hard to grasp at first, at the end the knowledge you gain from this course is worth the effort. If you ever programmed something, you probably will have encountered many of the concepts discussed in this course.
