Fantasy books have a special place in my heart. They offer an escape into worlds full of magic, mythical creatures, and epic quests. The last few years I've started reading them, and so far I would recommend these books:
The Mistborn Trilogy
Perhaps one the most well-known modern fantasy series. One of Brandon Sanderson's best works is this trilogy with impeccable worldbuilding, unique magic system and loveable characters. Not at one point during the books could I predict how it would end. This is also one of the easier to read fantasy books, so if you are looking to get started, this would be my top pick.
The Witcher Series
If you choose to start reading the Witcher, make sure you are ready for dark tales, set in a world full of monsters, political intrigue and moral dilemmas. You follow the story of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a Witcher, as he comes in contact with a mysterious child. The Witcher books are known for their deep lore and dark themes. Because not every monster is a monster.
The First Law Trilogy
If you want something different, maybe The First Law trilogy is just for you. These books divert from the standards of fantasy by presenting characters that at no point can be regarded as heroes. They all have flaws and shortcomings that make you wonder if they are even to be considered good at all. Once again these books explore topics that are morally grey. If you are looking for books full of power struggles, violence and dark humor, then you have to look no further.
